• Traction control disabled
• In some cases, speed signal issues

Fault Codes

• C003100 – Left front wheel speed sensor faulty

Possible Cause

• faulty wheel speed sensor
• damaged or contaminated sensor
• wiring or connector issue
• reluctor ring / tone ring damage

Component Location

The wheel speed sensor is located at the front left wheel hub, positioned near the brake disc and hub assembly.

Diagnostic Insight

Wheel speed sensors monitor the rotation of each wheel and send data to the ABS and ESP systems.

If the signal is missing or incorrect, the system may disable:

• ABS
• ESP
• traction control

Technicians usually check:

• live wheel speed data
• sensor wiring and connectors
• condition of the reluctor ring

In this case, the fault was traced to the left front wheel speed sensor, and replacement resolved the issue.

It is important to confirm the root cause before replacing components.
See Mercedes Fault Diagnosis Guide

Important Note

Wheel speed sensor faults can trigger multiple system warnings, even if only one sensor is faulty.

Professional Diagnostic Recommended

ABS and ESP system faults require specialist diagnostic equipment. The vehicle should be inspected by a Mercedes-Benz dealer or qualified Mercedes specialist.
