Mercedes W205/ W213 Auxiliary Battery Malfunction

System: 54 – Electrical System Component: Auxiliary Battery / Voltage Limiter

Auxiliary battery faults on W205 and W213 models can trigger multiple electrical warnings and disable certain vehicle functions. These issues are often mistaken for a failing main battery.

Corrosion on the auxiliary battery is common when it's left too long - this can lead to electrical faults and warning messages . Replacing it early helps avoid further issues.

Common Causes

  • Weak or failed auxiliary battery

  • Faulty voltage limiter / converter

  • Wiring or connector issues

  • Energy management system faults

Typical Fix

Most cases are resolved by replacing the auxiliary battery and clearing stored fault codes. In some situations the voltage limiter module may also require replacement
