Mercedes AdBlue Warning Will Not Reset – Diagnostic Guide
DESCRIPTION

Guide explaining how driving style, fuel quality and engine condition can affect DPF regeneration and soot accumulation on Mercedes diesel vehicles.

DIAGNOSTIC INSIGHT

Mercedes AdBlue warning messages and restart countdowns will not normally reset if active or stored SCR system faults remain within the engine control unit.

The SCR system acts as an emissions protection strategy and monitors multiple components including NOx sensors, AdBlue dosing and SCR efficiency.

Before the warning can be reset, the root cause must first be repaired correctly.

Depending on the fault and vehicle model, this may also require:

  • fault memory clearing
  • SCR reset procedures
  • engine control unit software updates
  • AdBlue system adaptations
  • guided functions after component replacement

Simply topping up AdBlue or clearing fault codes without repairing the underlying issue will often cause the warning to return.

IMPORTANT NOTE

Some Mercedes models require manufacturer-level diagnostic equipment to complete SCR reset procedures, adaptations or software updates after repairing AdBlue system faults.
